Create relationships founded by trust. Most teens that does not adults as their role models will become suspicious with people older than them. Individuals must never become a mentees substitute parent or even a best friend. A mentor is a positive role model who will invite people to show mutual respect and open communication.

Be positive. To demonstrate to them empathy, share some of your personal experience but never make it about yourself but about them.
