How Your Subconscious Mind Rules Your Behavior

By Kenneth Sanders

Many people have a hard time controlling their behavior because they simply cannot seem to control how they feel. The thing about emotions and mindset is that it is often ruled by the subconscious, which is why an overall mindset tweak that can influence behavioral patterns is something that is not easy to do. However, it is possible if you know how your subconscious mind rules your behavior.

Now, in order to master the unconscious part of the brain, it is important to break it down first. It is possible to equate this part of the mind to a single big computer database that stores all the old program files needed to run certain applications. All of these quote and unquote files are belief and memories. These beliefs and memories are the root causes of certain behavioral patterns that one may showcase on the outside.

For example, if a boy has a lack of self of confidence, it would most likely come from a traumatic incident that caused it. Now, the traumatic incident would be stored in the brain database and would serve as the driving force behind such insecure behaviors. To put it short, all of the root causes of how a person acts can be traced to an a memory or a belief that is stored in this part of the brain.

Now, one may actually ask why these memories are so powerful if they are already finished and in the past. Well, it is not really the memories that would create the behaviors but rather the beliefs and perceptions one gets from the experiences. The beliefs that are embedded into the brain would eventually convert to actions.

Going back to the example of the person with self confidence, a traumatic experience could possibly be bullying. Due to his experience with bullying, he then created a belief in his mind that people hate him and are out to get him. With that kind of embedded belief, certain traits such as fear and anxiety would come out.

With that said, it is also actually possible to replace those negative beliefs with more positive beliefs. If it is possible for negative beliefs to stick, then it makes logical sense that one can do the same with positive ones. The only problem here would be that positive beliefs may need some effort and constant reinforcement to be translated into actions.

So one of the things that one can do to change a behavioral pattern would to simply change the embedded beliefs. One way to go about would be to create more new and positive memories that can translate into beliefs. Once these beliefs can be focused on, then behavioral patterns may also change.

If one really wants to change the way he or she acts, then the first step would be to understand the unconscious mind. By understanding how it works, one can go the root of the problem and work upward. This handy little guide will give a brief overview on how powerful the unconscious brain is and how it can control everything.
